The city of Bergen and the Hanseatic wharf in Norway were founded by King Olav Kyrre around 1070, and from 1360 to 1754 were the seat of the German Office in the city and the central hub of Hanseatic trade in Norway. The artwork illustrates the market in Bergen in 1400. The city was then considered the capital of Norway.
